EcoFit® 2M Cup

This tripolar or dual mobility design not only reduces the risk of dislocation but it also increases the range of motion.

The system allows for a dual articulation – the innermost being between a standard femoral head and the inside of an EcoFit® 2M head, and the outermost being between the outer surface of an EcoFit® 2M head and the inside of an EcoFit® 2M cup.

The EcoFit® 2M heads are made of implacross® E (crosslinked polyethylene stabilised with vitamin E). The inner articulating surface is designed for combination (i.e. articulation) with implantcast’s standard femoral heads using the press which is provided on the instrument set. There are 12 head sizes in the range. The outer articulating surface of the head is intended for articulation with the inside of an EcoFit® 2M implavit® cobalt chromium molybdenum alloy (CoCrMo) cementless or cemented cup. The smallest (i.e. 42 and 44mm cementless as well as the 44 and 46mm cemented) options are used with 22mm implavit® heads. The larger diameters are compatible with our 28mm or 32mm CoCrMo alloy or the titanium nitride (TiN) coated heads.

The EcoFit® 2M cups have inner surfaces that are highly-polished and they are available in both cementless (42 to 64mm) and cemented (44 to 64mm) versions. The cemented cups have grooves and notches to maximise the surface area available for the cement fixation. The cementless cups are coated with implaFix® (commercially pure titanium / cpTi and hydroxyapatite / HA) to allow for pressfit fixation and bony ingrowth.
