MUTARS® Diaphyseal Implant

The MUTARS® Diaphyseal implant is a modular system comprising the diaphyseal component itself (available in a silver-coated and/or a titanium nitride (TiN) coated option), the connecting part and extension pieces (available in a silver-coated option), cementless and cemented stems plus a range of bolts or screws to securely connect the implant construct.

The silver and TiN coating options are ideal where infection is a concern (e.g. if the patient‘s immune system has been suppressed by chemo- or radiotherapy).

The cobalt chromium molybdenum alloy (CoCrMo) cemented diaphyseal component comes in a single length and four diameters (13mm, 15mm, 17mm, 19mm). This should always be implanted in the shortest remaining bone segment.

The diaphyseal component is combined with either a 100mm or a 120mm titanium alloy (TiAl6V4) connecting part and a stem for fixation in the longer remaining bone segment. These implant combinations will allow for a 100mm or a 120mm reconstruction length.

TiAl6V4 extension pieces (40mm, 60mm, 80mm, 100mm) can also be used, between the connecting part and the stem, to lengthen the reconstruction up to 320mm if required in 20mm steps.

There are seven hydroxyapatite (HA) coated TiAl6V4 cementless stems (in diameters 12mm to 18mm) and four matt-finished CoCrMo stems (in 11mm, 13mm, 15mm and 17mm diameter) available.
